Nahyr Pantano
Nahyr Pantano Hernández was a Brazilian pianist who developed most of her artistic career in Uruguay.
She was born on March 19, 1916, in Santa Vitoria do Palmar. She was the second wife of Carlos Giucci. As a child, she lived in Montevideo, where she began her piano studies and performed in a concert at the Franz Liszt Conservatory of Music. Subsequently, she moved first to Rio de Janeiro and then to Buenos Aires. In both cities she continued her piano studies.
In 1933 she returned to Uruguay and performed in concerts sponsored by the Asociación Coral de Montevideo. In 1935, she gave a concert at the Auditorio del Sodre. Among the audience was Carlos Giucci. Together, they gave a concert in 1936, in which they performed some of Carlos’ compositions. Nahyr and Carlos got married in 1937. During the 1940s and 1950s, Nahyr performed in concerts in various venues.
Nahyr passed away on July 15, 1981.
